Pauline Reeves Named CICOA 2012 Caregiver of the YearApril 13, 2012 CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions presented the second annual Caregiver of the Year Award to Pauline Reeves, Lebanon, Ind., during its annual Signature Breakfast this morning. Reeves said she was “surprised and humbled” to receive the award. Healthy Hearts for Women CaregiversFeb. 7, 2012 Caregiving can be a rewarding, worthy service. Even so, the stress and physical toll associated with the role can impact one’s health, especially the health of women, said Kate Kunk, registered nurse and Caregiver Options Counselor at CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions. Caregivers often neglect their own needs while caring for another, Kunk said, which makes them more susceptible to conditions like high blood pressure and coronary heart disease. CICOA Receives $10,000 Legacy Fund GrantFeb. 6, 2012 For the past five years, 104-year-old Westfield, Ind., resident Ruth Bryan has enjoyed a nourishing mid-day meal through Meals & More, a service of CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions. According to her daughter-in-law Martha Bryan, Ruth Bryan has eaten almost every bite. She not only loves good food, but also appreciates beautifully decorated food. “A few months ago, Ruth was so delighted with a little coconut-pineapple tart with a blackberry on top,” Martha Bryan explained. Thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Legacy Fund, a CICF affiliate, Ruth Bryan will continue to look forward to her lunch each day. The Legacy Fund grant will be used by CICOA to provide neighborhood and home-delivered meals in Hamilton County. |
