Meals & More Driver Bill Watts

After nearly 60 years of going to work every day, some people would be more than ready to retire. Not Bill Watts. At the young-at-heart age of 86, Bill has been delivering meals as a CICOA Meals & More driver for six years.

"To me, working is your best health remedy. I won't retire unless my health requires it. Or they fire me," Bill says with a chuckle.

Bill's work ethic began with a stint in the Army during World War II. When he returned from active duty, he worked in a packing house for 19 years before opening his own TV repair shop. As the television parts grew smaller and smaller, Bill decided to give up on TVs and came to CICOA when he was 80. Now, Bill delivers nutritious meals to 30 people every day, Monday through Friday.

Bill says the best part of his job is getting to know the people on his route. Because many on his route are disabled or homebound, Bill often is the only person they see each day. "Some are like family," Bill says.
