CICOA Acquires Indy Creative Aging Web Site to Connect Seniors with Life-Enrichment Activities

November 23, 2009

INDIANAPOLIS, IN—CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions has acquired www.IndyCreativeAging.org, a Web site that connects adults ages 50 and older living in Central Indiana with information about senior friendly activities, community services and programs.

Indy Creative Aging was established in 2005 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization by CICOA, the University of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Senior Center, the Arts Council of Indianapolis and WFYI. Now by combining forces with one of its founders and major partners, IndyCreativeAging.org hopes to improve its efficiency and accelerate its ability to connect older adults with life-enrichment activities and events.

"We are in the process of bringing Indy Creative Aging into CICOA and look forward to promoting civic and social engagements for older adults through the site,” said CICOA President and CEO Orion H. Bell IV. “With more than 5,000 unique visits each month on the Indy Creative Aging Web site, we hope to build synergies that will enhance the independence, dignity and quality of life for seniors in Central Indiana.”

As a program of CICOA, the Indy Creative Aging site will continue uninterrupted with all of the features that its users value including a community calendar, coupons and prizes. The site also provides a searchable Web portal with links to cultural events, lifelong learning opportunities, recreation and fitness programs, and volunteer and leadership civic engagement opportunities.

Another popular feature of the site is its “Senior Friendly Summary Features” section. By clicking on an event location, the user can review not only the address and contact information for each venue, but also its senior friendly attributes. This includes such items as whether the venue is on a bus line, has a drop-off entrance, is wheelchair accessible, has special seating for wheelchairs, or offers senior discounts.
