NAP Tax Credits
NAP (Neighborhood Assistance Program) Tax Credits
Your donation to CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions’ Lifelong Living Communities initiative--as part of the Indiana NAP Tax Credit program--enables seniors to continue living in their homes with enhanced safety and accessibility. Your donation provides funding for home modifications--such as the installation of ramps, grab bars, bathroom renovations and other safety measures--that allow people to “age in place” safely and comfortably in their own homes. And now with Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credits, it is possible for donors to more than QUADRUPLE the impact of their charitable gifts to this worthwhile effort.
Who It Helps
Larry and Alice have lived in their home for more than 40 years. Larry has early stage Alzheimer’s and is having difficulty maneuvering up and down stairs and getting in and out of the bathtub. Alice has been helping Larry deal with these challenges. Through CICOA’s Lifelong Living Communities Initiative, handrails have been installed inside and outside the home and grab bars have been placed around the bathtub. An ADA-height toilet also was installed with a grab bar alongside. Larry and Alice are both grateful for the security these simple changes have brought to their daily lives. Your gift helps people like Larry and Alice to live safely in their homes!

How It Works
Indiana's Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA), in partnership with the Indiana Department of Revenue, annually awards $2.5 million in Indiana Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) tax credits to non-profit organizations.
NAP credits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis to donors (individuals and/or businesses) who give a minimum gift of $100 to organizations awarded these tax credits. The IHCDA has approved CICOA's 2009-2010 NAP application in the amount of $39,605.
Credits of 50 percent of each donation are awarded for the calendar year in which the donation was made and are applied to the donor's Indiana income taxes. This state income tax deduction, added to the eligible federal tax deduction, can make your donation almost entirely covered by your tax obligation. Donations must be received before June 30, 2010.
